In the year 1232, before Berlin-Cölln, Spandau achieved city rights. Although Spandau is a district of Berlin since 1920, a real Spandau inhabitant sees Spandau as independent. Today nearly all of the medieval center of Spandau is a pedestrian mall. In the background the church St. Nicolai.
